Ad Analytics
Track impressions, completion rates, fill rate, and revenue from your gate ad units.
Go to Dashboard → Advertising → Analytics to see performance data for all your ad units.
Key metrics
| Metric | Description |
|---|---|
| Impressions | Total number of times an ad was shown |
| Completions | Readers who completed the ad (watched to end for video, met minimum time for display) |
| Completion rate | Completions ÷ Impressions |
| Fill rate | % of ad requests that resulted in an ad being served (network ads only) |
| Revenue | Estimated revenue from network ads (based on CPM/CPC reporting from the network) |
Filtering
Filter by:
- Date range — last 7, 30, or 90 days, or a custom range
- Ad unit — compare performance across individual units
- Domain — see how ads perform on each of your sites
- Reader segment — see completion rates by reader type (new, casual, regular, power user)
Completion rate by category
The analytics page shows ad completion rates broken down by content category. This helps you understand which topics have readers most willing to watch ads — useful for deciding which gates to add ad steps to.
Optimising ad performance
- Low fill rate on network ads: check your GAM or AdSense settings — the ad unit may have targeting restrictions or floor prices that are preventing bids
- Low completion rate: try shorter video ads (15s performs better than 30s) or switch to display ads for segments with low patience
- High completion rate but no subscriptions: this segment is monetisable via ads — consider keeping an ad step permanently in the gate for these readers
